Victim Services - Volunteers
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer for the victim services unit, please read the following then contact a member of the unit at 816.348.4430 for additional information. Or Email them.

Victim Advocates will be trained to offer emotional support and crisis intervention to crime victims in Belton. They will provided information on the criminal justice system, support agency referral, aid in acquiring emergency shelter and facilitate and other immediate needs. They also provide advocacy and immediate crisis intervention for victims of crimes. They will assess immediate victim needs and provide referral and information.Along with this they will complete necessary reports and documentation of services rendered and activities performed.

Qualifications for volunteers:

  • Must be over 21 years of age or enrolled in approved college course.
  • Must be able to work assigned on-call and court.
  • Must have an open non-judgmental attitude toward victims and survivors.
  • Must have the ability to communicate well, think well, and respond quickly.
  • Must be able to commit one year to the program.
  • Must allow a routine background check and have no criminal past.
  • Must be able to go on an 8 hour ride-along (can be broken up into two four hour rides) with an officer once a year.
